ALLIE MCGEE

Allie McGee, CSW, therapist

Allie McGee is a certified social worker (CSW) who brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her role as therapist here at Roots & Branches. Her professional experience includes working as an individual and group therapist for Salt Lake County's domestic violence shelter, working as a crisis counselor for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, working with the United Way of Utah County in the Welcome Baby program, and teaching parenting and relationship classes. She has also conducted academic research on intimate partner violence and maternal mental health.

Allie's practice is driven by the philosophy of turning "pain into purpose." This guiding principle originally inspired her to pursue a career in therapy and continues to motivate her today. Allie is committed to fostering authenticity, vulnerability, trust, and connection in her practice and with her clients.

As part of her clinical focus on women's issues, Allie specializes in some of the unique and challenging situations women in our society face, including:

  • Maternal Mental Health Challenges (including fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond)

  • Relationship, Parenting, and Family Issues

  • Life and Faith Transitions

  • ADHD

She earned a master's degree in Social Work from Utah Valley University and a bachelor's degree in Marriage and Family Studies with an emphasis in Parent and Family Education from BYU Idaho, where she also earned certificates in Marriage, Family, and Human Relations, Advanced Marriage and Family Functioning, and Parent and Family Education. Additionally, Allie is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), certified to provide clinical services to survivors of domestic violence through the Utah Association for Domestic Violence Treatment (UADVT), and is currently pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C).

Outside of her professional life, Allie is happily married and a proud mother of two children and two dogs—a yellow lab and a corgi. She enjoys gardening, going on walks with her dogs, reading, yoga, weight-lifting, traveling, and exploring the natural beauty of Utah.

New clients working with Allie will experience a person-centered, strengths-based, non-pathologizing approach to therapy. She believes in the power of a therapeutic partnership aimed at healing and growth. Allie's approach emphasizes that therapy is a collaborative process, and she is dedicated to helping clients realize their own capacity for change, healing, and forward movement.
